I always liked to work with clay, working with my hands.

I love the Japanese and Chinese style of pottery and I admire the glazes, the celadons, tenmokus, oxblood copper red.

In order to get such pots in my hands I felt I have to try and make them myself.

I have attended ceramics weekends and evening classes in Germany and Switzerland since 1985, learning a lot but never enough to answer all the questions or to quite fill the gap in my skills!

Since the end of 2004 I have lived in the UK and I have the good fortune to have my own workshop in the back garden.

My passion for ceramics has increased since then and I developed a special interest in oriental  glazes and reduction firing (see the pages firing and glazes).

To improve the quality of my pots I attended two throwing classes in 2005/2006, one with Deborah Baynes and another one in the Cardew Center in Bovey Tracey.

To further learn about different firing techniques, I attended a course by Nic Collins in 2008: building and firing of a woodfired anagama kiln. In 2010 I attended a 2 weeks course at David and Margaret Friths workshop in North Wales.

In 2008 I gave up my full-time employment as a department head in a biotechnology company to concentrate more on ceramics.

Since 2006 I am an active member of Anglian Potters and since May 2008 I hold the position as the selected members secretary.

I exhibit regularly with Anglian Potter (Summer exhibition in Emmanuel college Cambridge/Winter Exhibition in All Saints Church, Cambridge)
